KNOW THE
RIGHT QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR POTENTIAL COMPUTER VENDOR!
|
| |
Here are the basic questions you should ask before you make
a decision to use a particular computer service...Whether
you use these questions is entirely up to you. We just
want you to make the best decision possible.
Learn about them first:
- How long have you been in business?
- Do you provide services from a retail, commercial or
from your home?
- Do you provide mobile services?
- Do you work on-location? (my office)
- Is your business licensed for the city that you have
your business located in?
- Do you have any formal computer training such as
schools etc.?
- Are you certified for anything and may I see the
certificates?
- How many years of personal experience do you have?
- Are you the owner of your business?
- If not, what is your position and scope of
responsibility
- If not, who is the owner and can I have their
information
- Are you a member of the Better Business Bureau?
- Do you have current referrals that I can speak to?
- May I have 3 references?
- How soon can you service my computer / networking
etc.?
- What are your minimum fees
- Do you have set rates or fees or do you charge by
the hour?
- Why are your prices so cheap / expensive?
- Do you guarantee your services?
- What if I have a problem right after you leave? What
do I do?
- What kind of assurance do I have that you will do a
good job for me?
The more information you have, the more likely your
choice will be the right one. Remember, if the person you
speak to seems to have a hard time answering these
questions... move on!
If the person is hesitating and sounds like he/she is
making up his/her answers on the fly and you get the feeling
that it may not all be true, move on!
It's our experience that when most consumers have a
problem, it's because they did not ask the right questions
or enough questions before they awarded their job.
NOTE: This is all based on that you as a consumer, have a
reasonable amount of common sense and understand that you
too also need to be reasonable.
Example: Your computer is slowing down and freezing. Upon
the computer service shows up and literally removes all of
your viruses, malware, spyware, etc.. and the computer is
now working optimally. Then a few days and / or a week
later it starts to slow down again and freeze. The
computer person shows up again only to find out that you
have more malware type viruses etc.
Who's fault is this? There can typically be one of
two causes.
- It could have been a deeply embedded virus that the
service missed and has worked its way back... OR
- You could be visiting sites that are full of
mischievous viruses. You are using a "Travel Disk" that
is infected, you are using shareware software, you are
not managing your emails correctly etc.
So it's time for the computer people to do a deeper
analysis. In some cases it may require that your hard-drive
be cleaned, your operating system to be reinstalled etc. to
insure complete removal. So be reasonable and listen to what
your computer person has to say and then be 100% honest and
tell them everything... If you don't help them, they may
miss something.
If you don't want to risk it, take the solid path
of a good
